How We Measure Up

Johnson Health Center currently has 4,513 adults who are overweight or obese. Johnson Health Center staff strive to encourage patients to live their healthiest lives. We offer a variety of resources to encourage patients to adopt healthy habits.  We provide pre-diabetic groups and diabetic groups as well as appointments with our Nutrition and Wellness Coordinator. Obesity rates in adults

According to data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), 2013–2014:


  • More than 2 in 3 adults were considered to be overweight or obese
  • About 1 in 13 adults were considered to have extreme obesity

Obesity rates in children

According to data from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 2011-2014:

  • The prevalence of obesity has remained fairly stable at about 17% and affects about 12.7 million children and adolescents.
  • The prevalence of obesity was 8.9% among 2 to 5-year-olds compared with 17.5% of 6- to 11-year-olds and 20.5% of 12- to 19-year-olds. Childhood obesity is also more common among certain populations.
