Dr. Kootsey joined JHC’s pediatric team in January 2021, bringing with him over 5 years of experience in pediatric practice. He received his undergraduate degree from Duke University in 1990, before going on to earn his medical degree in 2012 from Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS). Dr. Kootsey completed his pediatric internship and residency at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters/EVMS in 2015. Prior to starting medical school, Dr Kootsey worked for 12 years on the PBS science documentary series, NOVA, in Boston, MA. Dr. Kootsey is married with one son and enjoys reading, cycling and hiking.
