I started off in the front office and then moved into a lead role in the front office, then the lead for the call center, until where I am now; a Business Intelligence Coordinator. Johnson Health Center has provided leadership opportunities like the Leadership Academy and helping me obtain Google Certifications to provide me with a strong foundation to flourish in my duties. “My career at Johnson Health Center spans nearly 21 years and reflects a journey of growth, opportunity, and commitment to healthcare operations. I began at the front desk and advanced through referrals and billing, progressing from Billing Coordinator to Billing Supervisor, then Associate Director of Revenue Integrity, and now Director of Revenue Cycle Management.
Throughout my career, Johnson Health Center has invested in both my professional and personal growth through robust training and leadership development opportunities. I earned my Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential through AAPC, along with certifications as a Community Health Certified Billing Specialist (CH-CBS) and a Certified Provider Enrollment Specialist (PESC). I also participated in the Community Health Center Leadership Institute (2015–2016) and graduated from the Leadership Lynchburg Program in 2020. In addition, I have attended national conferences and specialized training, including NACHC, eCW, and multiple revenue cycle bootcamps.
Equally important, these experiences strengthened my ability to lead with empathy, communicate effectively, and build strong, collaborative teams. The education, mentorship, and opportunities provided by Johnson Health Center have shaped not only my career, but the leader and person I am today. “I will celebrate 10 years with JHC in May of 2026. After moving back to Virginia from Florida, where my husband served in the U.S. Air Force, I began my career at JHC in the call center. I later advanced to the OB/GYN front desk and then to the Referrals department, where I worked for five years. During this time, I had the opportunity to collaborate with providers, nurses, and other staff across Johnson Health Center, which gave me a strong understanding of clinic operations and effective problem-solving.
This experience prepared me well for my current role in the IT department, where I have proudly supported staff for the past 3 years. I participated in the Community Health Center Leadership Institute from 2016–2017, which further strengthened my leadership and professional development. Supporting our staff allows me to contribute to the quality of care and compassion our patients experience every day.”
