Ms. Smith* visited Johnson Health Center’s mobile medical clinic at the Daily Bread in March of 2023. She had not been seen by a primary care doctor in several years and was in need of lab work and assistance with documentation for her emotional support animal. Ms. Smith was seen by JHC’s adult provider and our Patient Engagement Team assisted her in applying for Medicaid. Ms. Smith came back to our mobile medical clinic at the Lynchburg Public Library in May 2023 for a follow-up visit. Upon arrival, she was greeted by our mobile unit staff, who remembered her from her initial visit. She was elated that staff remembered her name and felt comfortable being seen again on the unit. When she checked out from her visit, she was quick to tell our mobile unit staff that she had lowered her blood sugar numbers and did not have to go on medicine. Because of our mobile medical clinics, Ms. Smith was able to re-establish care with a primary care provider, obtain Medicaid insurance and make progress toward improving chronic health conditions. She was extremely grateful for the services that we are providing in the community.
